The novel, authored by Jake Black, and craft art are geared towards kids and based on the characters and story of the live-action film. They will be released in stores in May, timed to coincide with the movie's theatrical release.
I had absolutely zero expectations for this book. I simply went in to my local comic book store to pick up my weekly books and saw this sitting on the shelf. One simple question “Who is Jake Ellis?” I have no idea why I should care but something about it intrigued me so I grabbed it and threw it on the stack. I must have read the first page 4 times. I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t make sense of it. It frustrated me so I moved on. Clues on pages 2 and 3 set up the “Ah ha” moment on page 4.
