CHUMBAWAMBA Break Up After Three Decades

The infamous Chumbawamba, known most for their 1997 hit 'Tubthumping' have decided to call it quits after more than 30 years as an active band.

Chumbawamba decided to end their long run "with neither a whimper, a bang or a reunion. Thirty years of ideas and melodies, endless meetings and European tours, press releases, singalong choruses and Dada sound poetry, finally at an end." The statement comes from Chumba.com
The band had remained relatively quiet the past couple years, however Chumbawamba did recently perform in and record the soundtrack for the 'Big Society!' musical in early 2012. The band plans to play a farewell tour this Spring and early winter. "We do, of course, reserve the right to re-emerge as Chumbawamba doing something else entirely, frankly, that's not very likely."
'Tubthumping' spent nine weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart in 1997. Chumbawamba's 'Tubthumper' album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 3.2 million sold in the U.S.
