Christopher Meloni, known by many television viewers as Detective Elliot Stabler on NBC's Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit and still others as Chris Keller on HBO's Oz, is reportedly being pursued by the creators behind the current HBO hit TRUE BLOOD for an unspecified role.
Following the creation of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) is a telepath and waitress at Merlotte's in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, owned by Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), a shapeshifter—though this secret is kept hidden. One night, Sookie meets Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old vampire who has returned to Bon Temps following the death of his last remaining relative.
Although HBO's TRUE BLOOD already has an impressive and well liked ensamble cast, a new report has surfaced stating that Christopher Meloni is being courted by the creators of the show to join the upcoming fifth season for what is being referred to as a "major role."
Meloni has a long list of established television accolades. Many viewers will remember him as the killer Chris Keller on the prison drama Oz, which originally aired on HBO. His most famous role has been that of Detective Elliot Stabler on the hit NBC spin off Law & Order: SVU, which he spent 12 years establishing. He is currently filming Zach Snyder's Superman film, MAN OF STEEL, in Canada.
The character Meloni may be portraying on True Blood is being kept under wraps. HBO has continued to maintain a 'no comment status' but rumors are swirling he will play a very powerful vampire.
True Blood stars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, Deborah Ann Woll, Joe Manganiello, and Nelsan Ellis. Based on the book series by Charlaine Harris; the series is developed and executive produced by Alan Ball.
