The Walking Dead is scheduled to hit airwaves on AMC this October for it's full 13-episode second season. Kirkman revealed that the writing team consisting of Evan Reilly (Rescue Me), Scott Gimple (FlashForward) and Angela Kang (Terriers) and one freelancer helped flesh out what is promised to be a more emotional and violent follow up season to the Golden Globe nominated program.

"We’re well into the show; scripts are all completed and the final touches are being made and I think he cameras will be rolling in a few weeks. We’re all very excited to get back to Atlanta and sweat."

As for where the second season will pick up events-wise, Kirkman confirms where we'll begin. "The last time we saw our characters, they were loaded up into the RV and they were driving away from the CDC. We will definitely see where that caravan is going and follow them on their journey. So, pretty much where we get blown up.," he said.

Although it had been rumored that the sword wielding femme fatale Michonne may join the group of survivors this season, that appears to be out of the cards for now. Kirkman said he would like to see her in a potential third season.

"Frank and everybody involved in the show love her. We’re all very interested in working her into the show."

Kirkman went on to address the potential involvement of horror novel mastermind Stephen King writing a potential future episode for the show saying, "That’s been discussed a little bit. Everyone involved on both sides of that are very anxious to make that happen; AMC is excited; Frank Darabont is excited; I’m excited. I know Stephen King and Joe Hill are excited. We’ll see if we can make that come together. I can neither confirm nor deny (Laughs)."

Well I have to say I am a little disappointed. However, even with a very short six episode story arc TWD creative team was able to take some really nice diversions during the season one story. The CDC episode and Vatos made season one incredibly awesome. I'm am so hyped for season two! Can't wait.

Eh, that's fine. IMO she should only be introduced if the prison is going to be a major plot point, and since it likely won't until season three, I'm completely fine with it.

people forget she didn't join the crew until after they had settled into the prison. i'm fine with her not showing up right now.
