STAIND Returns to Music Roots and Records a Heavy Album

Aaron Lewis, lead singer for Staind, offered an update on his band by revealing that they are currently in the studio and recording a heavy record after many years of mellower albums.

"Oh it's heavy. It's heavy. You know especially now that I've kind of picked the path to go down with my solo stuff and not wanting to create a situation where the stuff that was coming out solo and the stuff that might be on a Staind record were similar. So we are steering clear of any ideas that come out of us that might be of the more poppy or mellow nature, and we're concentrating on this being a very in-your-face and heavy record," said Lewis.

The frontman had taken a short hiatus from his bandmates to record a solo album and tour in support of it. Lewis commented on the acoustic filled solo album and if he's at heart, a country musician.

"The statement that I make in the song when I say, 'A country boy is all I'll ever be,' I'm not saying a country recording artist is all I'll ever be I'm saying that just like the guys in Sevendust, just like the guys in Black Stone Cherry, just like Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains, just like Les Claypool from Primus, we all live in the country and we're all country by definition. Are we country artists? Who knows? That will remain to be seen, but I was just following my heart," he said.

Staind's last studio album was 2008's 'The Illusion of Progress'. Lewis' solo album, 'Town Line', hasn't been released yet and is targeted to hit stores March 1st. His first single 'Country Boy' is available now. So in the midst of launching his solo career, Lewis has found himself in dual roles, recording a heavy album with Staind and trying to tour in support of his upcoming lighter sounding solo record.

"Honestly, we're in the studio right now recording another record. All mixed into me trying to support this solo endeavor and everything else, I'm in the studio recording another record with my band because, you know, I can't allow myself to have an easy schedule, that would be sacrilege."

AWESOME!
Staind is one of my favourite all time bands ever! Aaron has the most beautiful voice ever, and no matter how heavy the song or how slow, he ALWAYS makes it beautiful. i for one didn't mind his solo venture. and i don't care if the album is heavy or not, i KNOW it'll be awesome.
WIN!
