The British actor will portray a yet to be revealed member of the villainous Hellfire Club in Matthew Vaughn's prequel to the X-Men film franchise.

Several months ago it was revealed that veteran actor Kevin Bacon will bring the comic character Sebastian Shaw, leader of the Hellfire Club, to life on the silver screen in X-Men: First Class. Another members of the ultra-secret, evil society include January Jones, who is portraying Emma Frost a.k.a. the White Queen. Oliver Platt, whose role has not been disclosed to date except for the vague moniker "the Man in Black" is also rumored to be a member. The Hellfire Club is a fictional society within the Marvel Comics Universe that often comes into confrontation with the mutant superhero team, the X-Men. Although the Club appears to merely be an international social club for wealthy elites, its clandestine Inner Circle seeks to influence world events to their own agenda.

Today we learn that British thespian Andy Callaghan (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2) has been cast as another member of the Hellfire Club, though the name of his character is also currently being withheld. Other senior members of the society that have yet to have actors associated their characters are Donald Pierce (White Bishop), Harry Leland (Black Bishop) and Jason Wyngarde (Mastermind).
Directed by Matthew Vaughn, the film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Jones, Kevin Bacon, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Jason Flemyng, Oliver Platt, Morgan Lily, Zoe Kravitz, Bill Bilner. It opens in theaters on June 3, 2011.
