The debate of whether DC Entertainment would bring a live-action Wonder Woman adaptation to the silver screen was quelled last month when it was announced David E.Kelley had been tapped to write and produce a series for television based on the popular comic book character. Although the project is still in the early stages of creation, fans are already busy trying to figure out who should wield the Amazonian warrior's Lasso of Truth and magical wrist-lets. Inevitably, many actresses and their representatives will step up to divulge their interest in the part as well, even though casting is still a ways away.

http://www.whatsplaying.com.au/2010/11/hollywood-insider-lost-girl-as-wonder-woman/ has the latest rumor regarding the property and Lost Boys: The Thirst actress Tanit Phoenix. According to one of their unnamed sources,

"..the model [turned] actress has actually already spoken to key members of the production team and expressed interest… and they’re (that includes some suits at Warner Bros, whom she did The Thirst with) apparently big fans, so her name will undoubtedly be amongst the four or five young actresses that are ultimately shortlisted for the role of the Amazonian princess. 'She will definitely get to screen test', says an insider."

Phoenix's filmography includes the Lost Boys sequel, Death Race 2 and Lord of War. Ironically, the South African's name, Tanit, translates to 'Goddess of Love' or 'Goddess of Life and Death' (depending on the dialect) in Phoenician.

The Wonder Woman television series is currently slated for 2011 release, with the premiere episode in telemovie form. The show is allegedly focus on a contemporary version of Diana Prince, Wonder Woman's American alias.

Here is a clip of her doing some acting work:

Apparently she does multiple accents. Here is one of her playing a valley girl:

Just to let you know not too may actors can do multiple accents (Meryl Streep comes to mind as one of the greats). That being said, I do not think that Phoenix will be the final choice for the role. What I do get for the consideration is that they still want an unknown and are serious about who they want to pick for Wonder Woman.

I can't say enough how much I hope this endeavor fails before it goes into production. I hope its plans are frustrated at every opporturnity. Doors are shut. Scripts are rejected.

Why can't this be a feature length film with a budget that rivals WB/DC's tentpole heroes??? Now it'll suck with a Smallville-like budget. Shoddy SFX and subpar, week to week melodramatic scripts that would be enough to make a teenage girl vomit.
