Release Dates Set For THE DARK TOWER, THE BOURNE LEGACY and More

Universal Studios has revealed a daunting list of future project release dates including the likes of The Dark Tower and the newest entry in the Bourne franchise.

Larry Crowne : July 1, 2011

Tom Hanks' first directorial effort since That Thing You do. The film is still a mystery but it looks like it will be a drama about a man forced to re-invent the second act of his life. Starring Hanks, Julia Roberts, Bryan Cranston, Taraji P. Henson, and Nia Vardalos.

Safe House : February 10, 2012

Ryan Reynolds stars as a CIA agent who must transport a criminal played by Denzel Washington to safety after they are attacked at a safe house.

Contraband : March 16, 2012

A former smuggler who is trying to go straight is forced back into the game for one final job to save his brother in law who is still part of the criminal underworld. Starring Mark Wahlberg and possibly Kate Beckinsale.

The Bourne Legacy : August 3, 2012

Tony Gilroy, who wrote the previous three films in the franchise is set to direct this fourth entry but Jason Bourne will not be in the film. The movie is still set in the same universe as the prior trilogy.

OUIJA : November 9, 2012

The movie will be based on the Hasbro board game with a screenplay written by TRON: Legacy scribes Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. Sylvain White (The Losers), Pierre Morel (Taken), and Scott Charles Stewart (Legion) are being scouted to possibly direct the big budget adventure film.

47 Ronin : November 21, 2012

The true story of the samurai honor code Bushido about 18 warriors who set out on a quest to avenge the death of their master. Commercial director Carl Rinsch is set to direct and Keanu Reeves will star.

Snow White and The Huntsman : December 21, 2012

This is a re-imagining of the classic tale and focuses on the evil queen hiring the huntsman to kill Snow White in the woods but he instead mentors her into becoming a fighter able to fend for herself. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are rumored to star in the dark fantasy.

The Dark Tower : May 17, 2013

The first in a planned trilogy of films based on the series of novels by horror master Stephen King. Ron Howard is set to direct with a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman. A TV series is set to follow the films which are based in an apocalyptic alternate universe and center around a gunslinger named Roland on his quest to find the mysterious dark tower.

I'm actually more excited (I think) for the TV show of Dark Tower than for the movie. Ron Howard's a solid director though, so I'll watch that as well. There's just so much to squeeze in a movie though.
