X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Adds Another Mutant to It's Roster

Alex Gonzalez, a Spanish actor who has spent the majority of his career in television series from his homeland, has been added to the cast of X-Men: First Class and will be playing the character Riptide.

Gonzalez, 30, only revealed that he is "super excited" about landing the part and nothing more. In the comics, Riptide was a villain frequently associated with The Marauders. The character, whose real name is Janos Questad has been killed off at least twice in comics continuity.

According to Comic Vine:

Janos Questad has the mutant ability to spin his body at superhuman speeds. Janos generates his own shuriken while he is spinning-- his skin secretes a substance that instantly crystalizes into razor-sharp snowflake-like shapes. Janos usually is drawn so that he appears like he is 'riding' a tornado over his lower body.

X-Men: First Class predates the four previously released X-Men films. It will tell the story of Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr (Micheal Fassbender) before their respective hero and villain days. No other announcements have been made as to what association Riptide will have with other villains and/or heroes in the movie.

X-Men: First Class is being directed by Matthew Vaughn; and is set for a June 3rd, 2011, theatrical release.

Amen brother! I hope Vaughn and co. can put this stuff all together. Even though I am against it, I can live with all the crazy re-imaginings of X-Men timeline as long as they put a good story together.
