THE WALKING DEAD Director Frank Darabont Wants The Governor

The Walking Dead pilot episode director Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) spoke to MTV and says he can't wait to introduce more fan favorites into the AMC TV series.
"I can't wait to get to Michonne and The Governor. I can't wait to get to those characters. I love those characters," he said with a grin on his face.
Although you won't see these fan favorites during season one's short six-episode run, when the second season becomes greenlit, Darabont, who is also a producer on the comic adapted series says he can hardly wait to bring them to life on the small screen.
"I'm champing at the bit to get to that part of that narrative."
"Of course, you've got to earn it. We've got to lead up to it with what we're doing. But I really can't wait to get those characters in play. And Tyrese too..," said Darabont.
He did mention in past interviews that the TV series won't be an issue to issue direct adaptation and the show will drift from occasion into new territory. Introducing new characters that are currently in the book may come at a different speed and occasion than fans will be expecting. But Darabont promises viewers that these important Walking Dead alumni will eventually make their way to our TV sets.
"I think all the people who fans of the comic know and love will be in play here as we go," he said.
The Walking Dead chronicles the travels of Rick Grimes, a small-town police officer from Cynthiana, Kentucky, his family, and a number of other survivors who have banded together in order to survive after the world is overrun with zombies.
The six episode first season of The Walking Dead begins on October 31st, 2010, on AMC.
