The Dark Knight Rises
The Legend Ends
Release Date: Friday, July 20, 2012
It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act.
But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

Way too many flaws in this one for me to overlook. Suspending belief and buying into Nolan's "realism" approach are contradicting forces in this one. There were so many disappointments for me and I just felt like the Batman I have grown to love throughout my life was just a shattered shell of who he should be, even with the way it ended. I don't want to spoil at all, so I will leave it at that.

Suspension of disbelief. If you apply it onto the movie (and you should by now, it’s a grown man dressed as a bat fighting crime after all) you should find yourself enjoying a masterpiece of epic proportions, flawed for sure, but a fitting conclusion to the trilogy that rewards those who hadn’t set impossible expectations in more than one way.

Very solid film - better than Batman Begins but not as good as The Dark Knight. It was interesting to see a more ensemble piece rather than a film focused solely on Bruce Wayne. It was a 'Gotham City' movie as opposed to a Batman film. Because of that it runs a little too long and loses some steam. Tom Hardy was a great villain but acting through a mask is a b!tch. His voice was a little too over the top, but I understand trying to stand out when people cant see your damn face. He was better than I was expecting and the fight scenes were absolutely brutal.
Bale and Caine put on the best performances of the film and the trilogy whereas Hathaway was kind of just a dickhead. She had some cool action scenes but it was like watching cardboard in tight fitted leather. Thankfully Levitt, Oldman and Hardy were strong enough to distract me from the Catwoman crap.
It felt a little bloated but it was still a damn fine film. The ending action sequences were also so well done it made up for the 'quiet' ending that the prior film in the franchise had. Whereas the Dark Knight calmed down towards the end, this movie built up so much tension until it exploded. This worked very well and paid off in droves. Shame the franchise is done considering that brilliant ending that will go nowhere. Damn shame.

Christopher Nolan had an impossible task of trying to top The Dark Knight. He came close with The Dark Knight Rises, but fell short because of some plot holes. Still, the film was incredible and more than satisfying for those who've waited. Performances from top to bottom did not let down, especially newcomers Hardy as the menacing Bane, Hathway as the sexy Selina Kyle, and Gordon-Levitt as a GCPD cop. The cinematography was amazing and there were plenty of awe-inspiring moments that had me smiling throughout. I could go on and on about the film, but I don't want to spoil anything. All I will say is this: the ending is phenomenal. In my opinion, it's the best part of the entire trilogy. Even though I'm sad to see Nolan's story of my favorite superhero come to an end, it makes me proud to be a Batman fan. It might not be like the comics, but it feels so grounded and realistic that it could make me care less. Hollywood may never get a superhero trilogy like the one Nolan delivered. Grade: B+

The Dark Knight Rises is a solid film. It features the most beautiful cinematography of the entire trilogy and an crowd pleasing epilogue that does justice to the franchise. Aside from that, I cannot think of anything else memorable as I found it to be rather predictable and long winded.
