Surrogates

In the not too distant future, technology allows humans to live their lives through robots they call surrogates. Humans have, in effect, cocooned themselves in their homes, never venturing outside. They explore life, in all it's aspects, through their Surrogates. Tom Greer and his partner are FBI agents assigned to investigate the destruction of two Surrogates that has also caused the unthinkable: their human hosts were also killed. The use of Surrogates is not universally endorsed, some humans live in technology and machine-free zones. These people are led by a man called The Prophet, who may have gotten his hands on a weapon that would fundamentally change human society. Greer tries everything he can to stop them from destroying mankind's use of Surrogates, though he begins to wonder if that might be a good thing for them to succeed.
